Review & Description
Charles Newton was an experimenter, inventor, superior ballistician, firearms designer, and firearms manufacturer, between the years of 1905 and 1932. This book, compiled from over 100 sources, is the most complete volume to date covering Newton's numerous accomplishments. Discussed are Newton's innovative rifle and ammunition designs, including the first German imports; the 1916 First Model; the Model 1922 second German import group; the Model 1924, Second Model, or Buffalo Newton; and the LeverBolt. The rifle information can be reviewed as a reference guide for standard and factory-optional features. The mechanical workings of the major models are presented in detail, and informaition is given about rare and one-of-a-kind models. It also discusses several developments made by Newton that never came to be. Some of the information herein hs never been presented by any other source. "Newton High Power Rifles" coantains the history of each Newton enterprise, along with a section on the many catalogs offered by Newton's various companies. All calibers of Newton-developed ammunition and cartridges boxes are discussed and pictured. This book has more than 75 pictures illustrating Newton rifles and their design. In addition, there are more than 90 scans of original Newton factory flyers, advertisements, rifle designs, component parts, and accessories. Whether you are a Newton collector, a fan of bolt action rifles (especially sporting models), or just want to know more about this interesting aspect of firearms history, you will enjoy and treasure this book.
